How ismiti handles your information
Last updated: 2026-08-30ismiti is designed to keep relationship information primarily on your device. This policy explains what information is stored locally, what is sent to the ismiti backend, and how third-party services may be involved.
People, contact details, notes, interactions, reminders, important dates, tags, locations and profile photos are primarily stored in the local ismiti database on your device.
This relationship content is not sent to the ismiti backend merely because you create or edit it.
To provide account access, ismiti may process your email address, display name, profile image URL, authentication-provider identifier, device/session information and login timestamps.
If you sign in with Google, Google provides identity information needed to authenticate your account. ismiti does not receive your Google password.
ismiti uses limited telemetry to understand whether the service is being used and to estimate active users. The app may send an app-open event and, while it remains active, a lightweight heartbeat approximately every two minutes.
The telemetry is intentionally coarse. Relationship names, notes, phone numbers, emails, interaction text and other profile content are not included in these telemetry calls.
If you choose cloud backup, ismiti exports your local relationship data and encrypts it before uploading the backup. The backend stores encrypted backup data plus technical metadata such as backup size, version and checksum.
The current backup design is not zero-knowledge encryption because the ismiti backend can provide the authenticated account with its wrapped backup key.
You may export an encrypted local backup file and store it using a file provider of your choice. ismiti does not control where you save or share that file. Restoring the encrypted local backup requires access to the corresponding authenticated ismiti account and backup key.
If you choose current location, your device may ask for foreground location permission. ismiti uses that location to position the map or help you select a place.
If you search for a place, the search text and an optional approximate map bias may be sent through the ismiti backend to Google Places. Saved map coordinates and the location text you choose remain part of your local relationship profile unless you include them in an encrypted backup.
ismiti may interact with Google authentication, Google Maps and Places, telephone and email applications, WhatsApp, web browsers, operating-system file providers, Apple services and Google Play services. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies.
Local relationship data remains on your device until you delete it, replace it during restore, uninstall the app, clear application data, or switch the local database to another ismiti account according to the app's account-isolation rules.
When you delete your ismiti account, the service is designed to remove the server account, active sessions, backup-key data, backup metadata and stored cloud backup files associated with that account.
We use reasonable technical measures intended to protect authentication credentials, sessions and backups. No system can guarantee absolute security, so you should also protect access to your device, email account, Google account and exported backup files.
ismiti is not designed as a service for children to independently create accounts where applicable law requires parental consent. If a specific age requirement applies in your jurisdiction, you should use the service only if you meet that requirement.
We may update this privacy policy as the service changes. The current version and last-updated date will be available in the app and at ismiti.com.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent using the official support contact published on ismiti.com or in the applicable app-store listing.
